30 April 2020

The CEO of Strathfield Council has designated Homebush West Shopping Precinct as a smoke free zone, allowing residents to breathe easier whilst making their purchases in the popular shopping area.

Safety is at the forefront of this decision, which was made in support of community health and to assist with the reduction of litter.

The smoke free zone at Homebush West Shopping Precinct is effective immediately, with relevant signage currently being installed and community notification taking place.

The smoke free area will encompass the shopping precinct located along Henley Road and The Crescent as well as the carpark area accessed by Exeter Road.

Council will focus their efforts on community education for 21 days prior to Rangers enforcing the smoking ban.

Homebush West Shopping Precinct is the second smoke free zone within the Strathfield LGA, as Strathfield Town Centre was the first smoke free zone introduced by Council last year. Compliance has steadily increased due to an extensive education campaign and change in the behaviour of the local community.
